Ground breaking ceremony at Northern Gateway, Colchester

The ground breaking ceremony took place at the soon to be Northern Gateway Leisure Park based in Colchester, a 10 acre site located adjacent to Colchester United Football Club off the A12 south of junction 28.
The Northern Gateway forms part of Colchester Borough Council’s vision to create a place where local people and visitors alike can live, work, relax and shape happy, healthy lifestyles for themselves and their families. The 200,000 sq ft leisure development valued at £65m will include a Cineworld, up to seven restaurants including Kervan Kitchen, two drive thru’s including Wendy’s and Greggs, a Travelodge, customer parking with a Fastned charging station, two active indoor leisure facilities including Hollywood Bowl and Jump St with a landscaped piazza.
Representatives gathered from the main contractor, HG Construction, Turnstone Estates, Colchester Amphora Trading, Colchester Borough Council, Canada Life, Stace and the project team were in attendance for the ceremony.
This grand project is currently one of the largest in the UK and is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2023. This project forms part of a wider development being delivered by Colchester Borough Council and Colchester Amphora trading with easy access to the regional transport network
