Background

Creating a modern, leading-edge home for business

Stace’s client, Watford Borough Council, are regenerating Watford Business Park to create 7,100 square metres of commercial premises.

The council has been granted planning permission to proceed with their scheme which will involve demolition of existing buildings, remediation of the site and construction of new industrial and commercial buildings.

The scheme comprises the development of a new modern business park, including five large double warehouse buildings, three smaller pavilion buildings and a café.

The key goal for this scheme is to create the right kind of high-quality spaces and conditions for local businesses so that they can flourish. In turn, this will help attract new businesses to the area creating more local jobs. Potential occupiers include businesses in the film, TV, life sciences and manufacturing sectors.

Sustainability has been prioritised on this scheme with Glulam Timber Frames being used for the buildings.

The enabling works also include the relocation of substations and other utilities, including sewers. The demolition of the existing business park and the remediation of the contaminated site.

Demolition of existing buildings will begin in March, with construction expected to commence in Q4 2021.
