Background

Revitalising a community hub

This community arts building had been out of use for some time, falling into a dilapidated and vandalised state. We were instructed to assess the works required to refurbish the unit and ultimately allow the space to be re-let or used by the community once again.

Stace was initially appointed to undertake a survey and report on the condition of the building and existing services. We also detailed the works required to bring the property up to a lettable standard whilst ensuring works were undertaken to achieve an acceptable EPC C rating.

The main roof was strengthened and renewed, together with the replacement of the external glazing, roller shutter and access doors. The building was also made more accessible by converting the welfare areas to provide an accessible toilet and refurbishing the existing toilet and tea point area. All services were upgraded including fire, intruder and lighting and small power.

The building reached practical completion in December 2022.
