Background

Providing over a thousand students with purpose-built accommodation

Rolled out over three phases, this exciting new purpose-built student accommodation masterplan opened in time for the start 2022/23 academic year.

Phase one of the project delivered 378 beds, comprising a five-floor development at the west side of the site, decreasing to four floors with reduced massing. Phases two & three consisted of demolition of an existing two-storey commercial building and construction of three purpose-built student accommodation buildings housing a further 639 beds.

The mix of studios, en-suite cluster rooms and social areas maximises the site’s potential and meet the needs of the local student population while retaining future flexibility. It will primarily be used by Warwick and Coventry University students; however, the campus is also cleverly wrapped around The National Mathematics and Science College (NMSC) who are expanding into the Oaks 2 building.

The Oaks is situated within the Westwood Business Park, Coventry and just 1.1 km from The University of Warwick. Immediately to the north of the site is a leisure centre, playing fields and open space. The area to the west is a mix of residential and business space.
