Background

The Oaks consists of a demolition of an existing 2-storey commercial building and construction of a new build purpose built student accommodation site.

The project is planned to deliver 378 units, with an optimum ratio of studios and en-suite cluster rooms to maximise the sites potential and meet the needs of the local student population whilst retaining future flexibility.

The Oaks is situated within the Westwood Business Park, Coventry. The University of Warwick is located approximately 1.1 km (0.7 miles) to the south-east of the site. Immediately to the north of the site is a leisure centre and associated playing fields, and open space. To the west of the site are further employment and business uses with an area of residential to the south.

The project proposes to demolish the existing commercial building on the site and construct a new purpose-built student accommodation building comprising of a 5-floor development at the west side of the site, decreasing to 4 floors with reduced massing. As existing, the site comprises a single 2-storey office block with associated parking.

Stace is delivering Project Management and Employer’s Agent services on The Oaks for our client, McLaren Property Ltd.

Our Impact

Planning approval was received by a delegated decision in February 2019. The project is underway, with the aim to be complete by May 2020, ready for that year’s student intake.
