Moulsecoomb Way

Our client, McLaren Property, is developing a 380-unit student accommodation scheme in the Moulsecoomb suburb of Brighton which will range from five to seven storeys.
The land parcel comprised three separate adjacent sites made up of railway cottages, a recycling centre and a community centre. The buildings were demolished in Q2 2020, making way for construction.
The project is complex due to the existing site topography and is bordered immediately to the north by the railway line. The team worked tirelessly and successfully during Q1 2020 to secure the necessary Network Rail approvals prior to commencing works on site.
The building has been designed to incorporate sustainable credentials and is now being monitored closely by an appointed BREEAM Consultant to achieve a target BREEAM rating of “Excellent”. In addition to student accommodation, the new building incorporates 251sqm of community and 1,236m2 of Employment floor space (B1 Use).
