106 Lewes Road is a brand new purpose built student accommodation development.

106 Lewes Road (Vogue Studios) is one of three schemes in the client’s student accommodation portfolio along the Lewes Road. The new building is in a prominent location, making a strong visual focal point whilst travelling down Lewes Road and providing much needed accommodation for students of the nearby Brighton University. The project comprises 48 student bedrooms, with bespoke communal area on the ground floor for students to gather and interact.

Our Role

Stace provided Project Management, Employer’s Agent, Principal Designer, Party Wall and Cost Management services.

Our Impact

The building has been constructed using a panelised timber frame system which enabled the erection of the building – from foundations to roof – to be completed in eight weeks, reducing the impact on the residents and traffic. The building has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Key considerations included:

  • Town Planning constraints
  • Logistically a difficult site to build on, as it is located on a gyratory and the building has a curved façade to maximise the site footprint
  • Challenging timeframe to be occupied for the 2017/2018 academic year
  • Development Funding Agreement
