Background

Meeting the demand for new homes in Leicester

96 Jarrom Street is a residential led mixed-use development located in Leicester. The new scheme will see the construction of 122 private residential units in the city.

As part of the proposed development, the on-site buildings have been demolished to make room for a new five to eight storey structure.

The project is set to deliver 116 one-bed flats, 1 two-bed flat and 5 studios as well as a small ground-floor commercial unit spanning over 100 m2. Also incorporated into the scheme is an amenity space featuring private balconies, a roof terrace, as well as communal lounges, laundry, bike and bin storage. The development also provides accessible parking spaces and a storage facility for 100 bikes.

Since the scheme is in close proximity to the NHS Leicester Royal Infirmary and some universities within the city, the development is expected to cater to the high rental demand from hospital workers, students, and local professionals.

Amidst the low supply of new homes in Leicester for rent and purchase, the project will support Leicester City Council achieve its goal of building 39,400 new homes between 2020 and 2036.

The affordably priced, high-specification units were initially proposed to service the short and medium-term needs of the neighbouring University Hospital and was later repurposed towards an open market offering.
