Green light for Birmingham’s Queen’s Hospital Close

Green light for Birmingham’s Queen’s Hospital Close

Mixed-use residential scheme, Queen’s Hospital Close has secured planning permission.

Planning approval for the project was submitted in June 2023 to Birmingham City Council. The developments will include the construction of 759 PBSA bedrooms and 189 build-to-rent apartments. Plans also include the refurbishment of two remaining listed buildings on site.

Queen’s Hospital Close will be built on the grounds of the former Birmingham Accident Hospital.

Residents are at the heart of the new scheme, as it is hoped the new developments will connect them with the outdoors, offering areas for active enjoyment and relaxation, and enhancing wellbeing.

The scheme seeks to achieve BREEAM Excellent for the new buildings and Very Good for the listed buildings on site.

Works are anticipated to start in 2024, with a proposed completion date in 2027.
