Exchange Square, Broadgate is now open to the public

We are delighted to announce that Exchange Square by Liverpool Street station is complete and now open to the public. Exchange Square is a 1.5-acre park featuring a mix of plants, trees, amphitheatre seating, a ‘tiered pool’ water feature, designated event spaces and a café.

Designed by architects DSDHA, it quadruples the amount of green space at Broadgate, boosting emotional and physical wellbeing by creating a new outdoor space for workers and the wider community to enjoy. It includes 420 square metres of lawned areas, and exciting mix of planting and trees within its gardens: over 14,000 plants from 140 different species in total supporting our Client, British Land’s commitment to sustainability and biodiversity.

The works included full removal of all existing finishes and materials down to the existing deck, which sits over Liverpool Street station, assessment, repair and replacement of existing waterproofing then the build-up of new finishes to create the new square. These works all required liaison and agreement with Network Rail due to the fact the operating railway sits underneath.

We acted as Project Managers and Employer’s Representative on the scheme as well as providing Party Wall advice to the Client. Maylim were appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver the works.
