The Victoria & Albert Museum is world-renowned, with a collection of over 2.3 million objects in art, design, and housing spanning over 5,000 years.
Opened in 1852 and originally known as the Museum of Manufactures, today the V&A attracts over 4 million visitors a year.
Since 2001 the V&As Grade 1 listed building has been going through a comprehensive programme of restoration and redesign, known as FuturePlan.
The ambition is to enable improved accessibility to more of the collection and make use of currently unused areas.
Stace was originally appointed on the V&A Project Management four-year framework in 2019, and again, for Project Management and Quantity Surveying services in 2023.
Works completed to date include:
- A full heritage fabric asset survey to identify areas requiring urgent maintenance and care.
- Fashion Gallery redesign: located in a 19th century domed court, designed by Aston Webb, the fashion collection spans five centuries and is home to the largest collection of dresses I the world. The project involved lifting the existing mezzanine to improve environmental conditions and visitor experience, and adding purpose-built display cases.
Stace is delivering Project Management and Contract Administration Services.
