Since 2010, Stace has advised The Deaf Academy on the development of several sites to deliver leading education and residential care facilities.
Demolition and enabling works were completed before the development of a new Academy building and a separate stand-alone student accommodation building. The building provides teaching facilities for 80 students with accommodation facilities for 50% of students.
An existing building was stripped out and refurbished to form the Academy’s administration, finance, and fundraising departments.
During the design phases, emphasis was placed on creating a facility that would accommodate those who are deaf or hearing impaired, with an aspiration to create a flagship Academy and providing a benchmark for future projects of a similar nature.
The relocated Deaf Academy opened its doors to students in September 2020, despite the disruption caused by COVID-19.
