Pont ar Daf: Improving the visitor experience

Pont ar Daf in the Brecon Beacons is the most popular access point for Pen y Fan, the highest peak in southern Britain.

The Pont ar Daf Car Park provides access to key landmarks, nature sites, and trails, including Pen y Fan and Corn Du.

Stace was engaged by the National Trust to deliver services for a major expansion of the existing car park, addressing the pressing need for enhanced parking facilities at the base of the peak.

The proposed development will add 200parking spaces, including dedicated areas for disabled parking, minibuses, coaches, cyclists, and electric vehicle charging. It will also incorporate green travel initiatives, the establishment of trees throughout the site, and a designated area for emergency services and other essential users of the mountain range.

Enhanced visitor facilities will feature accessible toilets, a changing places toilet, and baby changing amenities, with some offering 24-hour access. To improve the overall experience, the car park will incorporate better signage, upgraded footpaths, and information points to help visitors plan their day more effectively.

To maintain cost control, Stace provided monthly valuations and cost reports, ensuring the National Trust remained informed of any commercial changes that could impact the overall budget or programme duration.

The car park will transform the visitor experience, allowing people to enjoy the location at its best.

Stace provided Cost Management services to the National Trust.
