New City College – Ardleigh Green Campus Hornchurch

A creative and reformative development for students in Hornchurch

This refurbishment project was to create an inclusive and nurturing study environment for students with Special Educational Needs and disabilities at New City College’s Ardleigh Green Campus  in Hornchurch.

Works consisted of the refurbishment of an existing block to create a new SEND Centre, implementing various innovative changes and enhancements to accommodate the diverse needs and aspirations of the students.

Developments on the campus included creation of a new entrance and reception space, classrooms, sensory rooms with specialist acoustic ceiling panels, a hygiene room, kitchen workshop, an independent living unit, speech, language, and job-coaching meeting rooms.

The scheme highlighted the significance of creative reuse in the built environment, as the campus features a modified layout as well as imaginative interior design.

Works were required to be completed within a short time frame, in preparation for the school’s new term. Due to the time constraints, prompt decision-making and collaboration within the team was crucial. Additionally, the scoping and redesign were completed onsite to ensure the build was practical and had a minimal impact on the college.

Stace provided Employers Agent and Cost Management services for the refurbishment, which provides specialist SEND facilities for our client  New City College.
