How did you find out about the Stace Graduate Development Programme?
I was made aware of it during my interview process.
How do you find studying whilst working?
It can be challenging, as there is a lot to juggle. However, it was incredibly beneficial being able to learn on the job and relate this back to my degree and vice versa. The practical experience not only deepened my understanding of academic concepts but also gave me the confidence to apply theory in real-world scenarios with greater clarity and purpose.
What drew you to the construction/property industry?
I have always loved historical properties and dreamed of working with them. I spent a long time thinking that museum work would be a good way in, but a friend suggested I try looking into surveying—especially since I also loved a good floorplan. That one conversation completely shifted my perspective, and combining my passion for heritage buildings with the technical side of surveying seemed like a fit. The rest is history… quite literally!
Would you recommend taking this path into the industry?
Absolutely. The balance of both learning in a real-world environment alongside study is so beneficial. It gives you the chance to see how things work day-to-day, not just in theory, and helps you develop a more intuitive understanding of the field as you go.
What are your future career plans?
I am currently working towards sitting my APC, and I hope to follow this with a RICS conservation accreditation.
