Topping Out at The British Museum’s Energy Centre Programme

On Tuesday 17th February 2026, we celebrated the topping-out ceremony for The British Museum’s Energy Centre Programme.

The scheme, a significant component of the Museum’s wider Masterplan, involves replacing several existing buildings with three new structures across its Grade I listed estate. This transformation will support the Museum’s transition away from gas heating by introducing modern electric systems, including water and air source heat pumps.

The Museum’s long‑term environmental strategy is further strengthened by the project. By creating a more adaptable and efficient energy network, the project will enhance overall resilience and establish a future‑ready foundation for the next phases of the Masterplan.

Upgrades to the building are being carried out while the Museum remains open to the public and fully operational.

Stace is delivering Project Management services on this scheme.
