Planning Approval Secured for Former Crown Court Site

We are pleased to announce the London Borough of Southwark’s planning committee approval for Loman Street, the mixed-use PBSA and affordable housing project, for IQ Student Accommodation.

The design comprises 600 student rooms and 71 affordable homes in a historic part of Southwark, formerly home to Blackfriars Crown Court.

The scheme involves demolishing the existing post-war building and redeveloping the block into purpose-built student accommodation and social housing in the heart of London. The two buildings are arranged along a new pedestrian route that reconnects surrounding streets and creates an attractive, shared space. The designed landscaping and informal play areas enhance this green link, which continues into the buildings themselves, each featuring its own courtyard garden.

Stace is providing Project Management and Employer’s Agent services on the project, which is scheduled to start on site in 2026.
