This project involved the demolition of existing 1970s brick-built industrial units and the construction of four new lightweight framed units to revitalise the space.
The new, modern buildings comprise of a shell and core envelope with a mezzanine floor, a ground floor customer entrance with a reception area, and staff facilities. Additionally, a double height roller shutter for vehicle entry was integrated.
The design of the buildings targeted BREEAM Very Good, EPC A+ rating, Net Zero Carbon, and Secured by Design certification and also include PV elements.
The modern industrial units redevelop the area and create immediate, high value employment opportunities. Located within close proximity to the M25 and A10, the units are expected to be in high demand.
Demolition works started on site in 2023, and the project reached practical completion in September 2024. The buildings, known as Waltham Connect, are owned and let by Qualis Commercial, the Architect for the project was Louis de Soissons.
