Our Client, Health Service Laboratories, responded rapidly to the Government’s request for additional Covid-19 testing by assembling a team to create a bespoke testing laboratory.
In a 12-week design and construct programme, designs were developed, a contractor was appointed, and construction works were completed; all on time and on budget. The facility is located in the Halo Building, Mabledon Place and can handle up to 10,000 tests a day.
Close collaboration within the project team (KB Architects, Taylor Project Services & Portview) was key to the successful delivery of this project. The team’s collective knowledge of the building and their ability to utilise and develop this knowledge was also crucial.
The Architect’s designs included rationalising open-plan spaces and taking advantage of tall ceilings to provide an environment of natural light that complements the busy but productive workplace.
