Background

Delivery of 1 million ft² industrial space for Jaguar Land Rover.

Jaguar Land Rover’s new Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton represents a key requirement in Jaguar Land Rover’s global growth plans which Stace are proud to have successfully delivered on their behalf.

Our Role

Stace provided a full suite of services in the form of development consultancy, (including technical due diligence in land acquisition, representation with local stakeholders and acquiring all necessary strategic development consents), Project Management, Client Representative and Employer’s Agent’s.

Our Impact

This industrial project comprises of three large open plan process halls, including a machine hall (equivalent in size to six football pitches) for the machining of engine parts and two separate assembly halls for assembly of engine components. Ancillary support buildings offer necessary staff facilities, including various engine test facilities and laboratories. Offices, training rooms, restaurants and an education business partnership centre complete the scheme.

The overall size of the project amounts to circa 1 million ft² of industrial space and was completed on a fast track basis in two phases:

  • Phase 1 of 700,000 ft² was completed in October 2013
  • Phase 2 of 250,000 ft² was completed in October 2014

The scope of the project involved the construction of the base building design, highly bespoke to JLR Powertrain department fit-out requirements. It required close integration and co-ordination with Jaguar Land Rover during overlapping construction and process equipment fit-out phases.

Phase 1 won the prestigious Best Regeneration Project at the RICS National Awards in 2014.

The project was further recognised in 2017 by CIBSE, winning the best ‘Project of the Year – Commercial/ Industrial’ category at the Building Performance Awards 2017, along with ‘The RIBA West Midlands Regional Award 201’7 and ‘The RIBA West Midlands Sustainability Award 2017’
