Background

In 2012, the Governors at Channing School took the decision to invest in their Music, Sport and Drama facilities.

This project was the final phase of their Capital Challenge Development Project and part of their plans to continue to offer the very best facilities.

Located at the front of the Senior School the ‘theatre’ style space seats over 300 guests in a professional auditorium. The building is used to showcase many of the school’s extra-curricular offerings, such as GCSE and A Level productions. The design is in keeping with a professional modern theatre, maximising space, including state-of-the-art technology for sound and lighting and, most importantly, providing their pupils with an exceptional space to learn.

The project was complete in the summer of 2017.

Our Role

Following three earlier phases of work at Channing School, Stace provided cost Management services to the new Sports Hall and Sixth Form Centre building at their Highgate Campus.

Our Impact

Channing School is situated on a particularly difficult site for access. Additionally, there is sloping so the new building included a part basement structure to manage the site specifics.

Stace were employed to review the options for both the sports hall and a new performing arts building. The advice allowed Channing School to structure their finances, with led to the two buildings been split into two phases of works.
