Alton Towers Hotel Extension Receives Planning Permission

04 December 2015

The Alton Towers Resort, owned by Merlin Entertainments, has been granted planning permission by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for the proposed extension to the Alton Towers Hotel.

The hotel was originally opened in March 1996, and was the first hotel in the UK to be located on a theme park.

The new extension will provide an additional 76 rooms, along with entertainment area, bar and restaurant (capacity 200) and will be marketed as a stand-alone hotel. Although we can’t disclose the themes just yet, the unique designs include themed wall paper, themed carpets, bespoke lighting and tailored audio experiences and 3D elements.

Conditions have been put in place to ensure environmental impact remains at a minimum. An additional 98 car parking space will be created, forming part of a full travel plan, including “acceptable and sustainable modes of transport for guests and staff”.

Appointed as Project Managers/ Employers Agent, Quantity Surveyor and CDM Advisor, Stace are delighted to be involved in the next stage of this exciting project.

The project is due for completion in 2017.
