Porsche Carrera Cup Stace racing driver, victorious at Brands Hatch

01 April 2008

Stace are proud to support the Porsche Carrera Cup (PCC), one of the most prestigious racing car championships in Britain and the support race to the MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

We are pleased to report the Stace sponsored driver; Michael Caine of Team Parker Racing dramatically clinched the double in the opening weekend at Brands Hatch.

The PCC race feature cars with exactly the same technical specs, which equals close and very exciting races based on driver skill.

Michael scored his first Carrera Cup victory on Saturday (29 March) in a race full of incident and after a fierce battle with rival Andy Britnell. The damp track and threat of further rain made tyre choice ahead of the race very difficult, with Team Parking Racing opting for slicks tyres.

The race was an eventful one with Team Parker Racing team mate Tim Bridgman (an original favourite) crashing out of the race after a collision with Sam Hancock (Jota Sport) and Nigel Rice (Red Line Racing) spinning out of fourth place at Paddock Hill Bend.

Michael commented,
‘My First Carrera Cup win has been a long time coming and it’s a great feeling.’

Winning once again on the Sunday (30 March) must have been the icing on the cake for Michael who repeated his victory from the previous day with another faultless drive, taking the lead from the grid and completing an unbelievable weekend.

The next race date is Rockingham Saturday 12/Sunday 13 April.

Proving the popularity of the championship this year the whole seasons Sunday races are being screened on ITV4 – so don’t miss a race!
